Remember Feb. 5, 2006, when Detroit so successfully hosted the world for pro football’s Super Bowl and the city seemed on the brink of a genuine comeback? That seems like eons ago, mostly because very little good has happened since and a whole lot of bad. On its own, the scandal engulfing the City Council would be terrible enough. Coming on top of the mayor’s criminal troubles, the city’s financial struggle, the school system’s critical financial issues, and the bleak local economy, this is disastrous.
